Point Presser and Pounder or Cool Iron for fixing seams in the desired direction
is used for the wet-heat processing of garments. It is made of a single piece of natural wood from among broadleaved species — alder tree, which is characterized by high strength and high humidity resistance. Alder tree, compared to coniferous wood species, does not produce any resins what is essential during the wet-heat processing of garments (WHP).
The wooden blocks are thoroughly smoothed and polished in manual way so that they can be used in work with delicate fabrics.
Having two working surfaces, the Two-Sided Point Presser and Pounder speeds up and simplifies the process of pressing seams open/pressing seams to one side. On being pressed, seams should be pushed down with the wooden block which absorbs heat and cools seams, and, since the wooden block has two working surfaces, we do not have to wait until the wooden block gets cold – we just turn it over and use its second working surface.
The wooden Point Presser and Pounder suits for pressing all kinds of fabrics; it can flatten seams while preventing them from being printed on the front side of products, without leaving any shiny marks.
This brick-like version of the Point Presser and Pounder is suitable for fixing:
Use: on being pressed open, seams should be pushed down with the Point Presser and Pounder for 5 seconds. Wood nicely absorbs heat and moisture; those operations contribute to producing neat, straight, flat, and flawless seams. The Point Presser and Pounder suits both for professional and non-professional use.
Maintenance recommendations: do not keep the Point Presser and Pounder in wet, unheated rooms, otherwise it can get cracked or rotted. Do not let it fall down, or else splits and cracks may appear. If, with age, burrs have appeared on the surfaces of the wooden block, it should be very easy to remove them by rubbing it sequentially with 320 and 600 grit fine sandpaper suited for the manual smoothing.
