The Tailor’s Ham with Strings can help in performing a good-quality WHP while giving a required convexity to garment parts.
The Tailor’s Cushion Ham is a perfect budget-friendly substitute for the Tailor’s Board Little Swine, especially if you are just mastering your sewing skills or are engaged in sewing at home in small amounts.
For what purpose do you need the Tailor’s Ham?
You can buy the Tailor’s Ham both as a set with the Multipurpose Board or the Sleeve Board and as a single tool. How to use the Tailor’s Ham with Strings is shown in the photo, but this should not limit your fantasy. Such a set can perfectly cope with multitasking, spare your nerves, save your time and money, and it does not take up too much space.
The Tailor’s Ham has two working sides — for ironing light and dark coloured fabrics.
What materials is the Ham for the WHP made from?
In terms of design, the Tailor’s Ham is produced with a double-layer outer cover, which prevents the migration of shavings along its length and breadth. The inner layer is made from coarse calico; the exterior one is made from a 100% flax cloth.
Each Tailor’s Ham is tightly and manually filled with shavings from beech tree (a broadleaved resinless wood), which are of our own making. The beech tree shavings produce no resins as conifer ones do, and this is a very important point for performing the WHP. When used, such shavings ensure that you should not spoil your products even if they are continuously heated and steamed. The Tailor’s Ham is good in accumulating heat and moisture, and it ensures a fast cooling of garments.
The Tailor’s Ham especially suits for work with delicate fabrics. A good example might be a situation when you need to settle seam cuts on fine light-coloured fabrics. If you perform this operation by means of the wooden Point Presser and Pounder, you may get the seams printed on the front side of the garment. If you do the same by means of the Tailor’s Cushion Ham, you should avoid such incidents 😉
