The appearance and the quality of garments widely depend on the WHP both during the sewing process and at its final stage. Moisted and heated materials can be easier treated in different ways so that you can give three-dimensional shapes to garment parts as well as process seams of various kinds in a quality manner.
Using an iron and different Boards, you can not only give required shapes to your products, create folds, bend edges, remove uneven and crumpled areas, but also perform the most labour-intensive and demanding operations — shrinking and retraction.
These operations are performed to give three-dimensional shapes to garment parts. When shrank, a garment part undergoes a forced contraction; and, when retracted, it undergoes a forced stretching. In order to fix the forms given to garment parts, the moisture should be removed and the materials should be cooled.
The shrinking is performed with an iron, starting from those segments of the garment parts where you need a slight shrinkage, slowly moving to the areas where a deeper shrinkage of the cloth is needed. For this purpose, you can use different Tailor’s Boards for the WHP which ensure that garment parts are properly set in, while providing required forms. One of those Boards is the Composite Side Board with Oval Edge.
Placing the front side on the Tailor’s Side Board in particular ways and moistening it, you can find out weak places appeared on the garment and perform the shrinking of:
On the Tailor’s Side Board, depending on the design of the garment, you can perform the retraction, for example, along the back side in the shoulder-blade area. Along the waist line, the retraction is performed in order to create a smooth concave line. The shrinking and retraction grade depends on the design of the garment as well as on the figure of the customer.
With the Tailor’s Composite Board, you can also perform:
The Composite Side Board can be upholstered with a cloth; an outer cover can be sewn for it; or you can use it as it is, without any additional accessories – everything depends on materials processed and special considerations demanded by sewers.
The Side Board is made out of high density wood — beech tree. The Board is manually smoothed and polished in 7 stages what allows to use it when working with the most delicate fabrics.
The Board is manufactured in two size modifications.
