The Tailor’s Board Semicylinder comes into use when you have to press seams open in a way that the seam allowances should not be printed on the outside of the garment.

With this tool being used for pressing seams open, the ends of the allowances do not come into contact with the fabric of the garment, and this prevents the seam allowances from being printed on the face side of the garment.

How can you use the Tailor’s Board Semicylinder?

After laying a seam, you have to put it facedown on the semicylinder. Then, the seam allowances must be spread out in different directions and pressed.

Since the Board Cemicylinder is rounded on its sides, you will be able to press only the seaming zone (the seam), with the seam allowances not coming into contact with the fabric of the garment and, thus, not getting printed on its face side.
